Mouthy puppy

Sadie came back from training definitely knowing more commands but was way more mouthy. My guess is that because they use toys as rewards, she got into the habit of thinking that training time is play time. This is awesome because I want her to love training, but because she is still a puppy, she gets way more mouthy! Also, unfortunately, because of her breed, having a mouthy pit bull


is way more scary than having a mouthy lab. I also think she may be going into her last fear period as she’s been showing new fears and hesitations. Fear periods are also when training goes out the window! So, this all makes sense as to why she’s needing some extra training. She is back at Pawsitive K9 Solutions just to work on her impulse control this week.

  I got Sadie after months of searching. My old service dog had to retire because he needed to work way more than I required (he now works to train new service dogs with a trainer!). I work from home, so there is a lot of downtime for my service dog to just be a dog. After Winston, I emailed many rescues and told them exactly what I was looking for in a dog: a chill dog who was still down to work but was equally content just chilling at home. I looked at many dogs, but they were not the right fit. Then, I saw Sadie at the Pasadena Humane Society .
